📖 Summary
“Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo is a dark fantasy novel about crime, loyalty, and survival set in a dangerous, vividly imagined world.
The story follows Kaz Brekker, a brilliant but ruthless criminal prodigy, who is offered an impossible heist that could make him rich beyond his dreams. To succeed, he gathers a group of outcasts — each with unique skills, painful pasts, and their own secrets. As they plan and carry out the mission, trust becomes fragile and the stakes grow higher, forcing them to confront both external threats and their inner struggles.
Blending action, emotional depth, and complex relationships, the novel explores themes of friendship, trauma, ambition, and redemption. The fast-paced plot and morally grey characters make the story gripping and unpredictable.
The popularity of the Grishaverse series has also led to a Netflix adaptation, where characters from Six of Crows appear in the fantasy show Shadow and Bone. This adaptation has helped introduce the story and its richly layered characters to a wider global audience.
Overall, Six of Crows is an atmospheric and thrilling fantasy that combines clever strategy, intense character dynamics, and high-risk adventure.
✨ My Thoughts & Review
Rating: ⭐ 4.75 / 5
A dark, clever, and addictive fantasy about a group of broken yet brilliant characters brought together for an impossible heist. I especially enjoyed the Ocean’s Eleven–like elements in the story — the strategic planning, teamwork, and unexpected twists made the adventure even more exciting.
The strong atmosphere and morally grey choices added emotional depth, while the gradual development of trust between the crew made their journey truly compelling. Each character’s past and motivation felt meaningful and real.
After finishing this book, I am already looking forward to reading the duology’s sequel, “Crooked Kingdom”. I can’t wait to return to this dangerous yet fascinating world.
